Equipping the Saints
Saturday March 7th 2009
Highfields Community School @ Matlock
Many of you will remember Equipping the Saints
back in 2004 at Barton Under Needwood. A great
day and I hope 2009 will be even better. Bishop
Paul Butler has kindly
agreed to be the key note speaker, in 2006 Bishop Paul was invited to be the
Bishops’ Advocate for Children and this is what he said having received
that invitation.
'I have an involvement with and commitment to children’s ministry which
has existed throughout the years since I came to personal faith in Jesus Christ
in 1970. For much of my ministry working with children, young people and families
has been either the major, or one of the major, foci of that ministry.
'On being made a Bishop one of my major personal questions has been “Why
has God called this children’s specialist to be a Bishop at this time?” & “How
can I use my gifts and experience in, and my calling to, children’s ministry
as a Bishop?”
'The Archbishop of Canterbury has invited me to be “an advocate for children” within
/ on behalf of the house / college of Bishops. I have accepted this invitation
and am looking forward to seeing how this role will be enacted.'
I am now working on being able to offer 20 workshops covering a wide variety
of topics from the basic foundations through to more specialised areas. Full
details and booking forms in the Autumn.
