The Bishop of Repton, Humphrey Southern, has begun an 11 day visit to Pathankot, Punjab, North India where he will attend the 13th Ordinary Sessions of the Synod of the Church of North India (from the 13 – 24 October).

Bishop Humphrey will be attending as a representative of the Diocese of Derby and the Derbyshire Churches/Church of North India Partnership.

“I am hoping to meet some of the Indian Bishops who came on a pre-Lambeth visit to Derby Diocese, which included the Open Service at Carsington Water in mid July,” the Bishop said this morning.

It will be the Bishop’s first visit to India and he is very much looking forward to meeting congregations and seeing the church at work there.
